Lagos State COVID-19 Update

With Lagos State being the epicenter of the COVID-19 in Nigeria, iDONSABI will be giving out regular updates on the case of the dreaded virus as they come.

As at the time of filing this report, Lagos has 59 cases, followed by the FCT with 16. Others are Ogun- 3 Enugu- 2 Ekiti- 1 Oyo- 7 Edo- 2 Bauchi- 2 Osun-2 Rivers-1 Benue- 1 and Kaduna- 1.

In a bid to prepare for the projected case of 39,000 patients, the State Government has unveiled another Coronavirus Isolation Centre in partnership with the Guaranty Trust Bank.

Located on the Mobolaji Johnson football pitch, it has 110-bed space as the government continues its proactive measures.

As of 27th March 2020, Eight new COVID-19 cases were confirmed in Lagos. FourĀ of the new cases are already on admission at IDH, Yaba.

It involved a teenage female with travel history to Holland en route Northern America via KLM on 18th March 2020 and another who had contact with a patient already on admission for COVID-19 treatment.

Speaking at the isolation centre in Onikan where the General Manager of GTB, Segun Agbaja was present, the Commissioner for Health, Prof Akin Abayomi said training of health workers who will provide care in the Isolation center will commence in earnest adding that there will be a reordering of flow in and out of the facility in tandem with Infection Prevention and Control technique.
