Lagos State Government Begins Demolition Of Over 180 Marked Houses

Following the collapse incident at the Itafaji area of Lagos State which killed over 20 persons with so many others injured as reported by iDONSABI.com, the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA) have begun the demolition of defective buildings within Lagos Island.

The General Manager of LASBCA, Mr. Lekan Shodeinde revealed that owners of the 180 buildings earmarked for demolition have been served several notices dating from as far back as 2013 but have failed to respond accordingly.

Mr. Lekan said that the agency’s task had begun work with the demolition of a three-storey building at 60A Freeman Street, Epetedo effective from today, the 15th of March.

In other news, the Lagos State Government has confirmed that a total of 20 lives were lost in the collapsed three-storey building at Itafaji, Lagos State. According to the report, 16 of the people reported dead were school pupils while the other 4 were adults present during the time of the accident.
