Lagos State Police Apprehends Security Guard For Murdering His Colleague

The Lagos state police command has apprehended a security guard identified as Monday Odey, for allegedly murdering his colleague at Magodo area of the state on April 5th.

A statement which was released from the Lagos state police command spokesperson identified as Bala Elkana, noted that Monday Odey was apprehended at Iwo, Osun State on May 2nd after he fled from the scene of the incident of the crime.

Bola Ikupoluyi identified as the employer of the guards, who reported the matter to the police station, made it clear that the deceased and the suspect had an argument.

Yinusa, the deceased, had accused Monday Odey of stealing the clothing items of their boss.

During the heated argument, Monday Odey hit his colleague and now deceased, Abdullahi Yinusa, with a shovel on the head and face and he died in the process.

A statement said:

“The suspect picked offence and threatened to kill the said Abdullahi Yinusa for challenging him. The complainant, being their employer responded by sacking the suspect and ordered him to vacate the premises immediately.”

Meanwhile, Monday Odey under the guise of moving his personal belongings, returned to the house the same day at about 7 pm and murdered the said Abdullahi Yinusa.

Report also has it that Odey dumped the corpse at a canal behind their employer’s house and ran away.

The police spokesperson stated that the suspect would be charged to court for murder once investigations have been concluded.
