Lai Mohammed – FG commences payment of February salary ahead of rescheduled 2019 Presidential election

– He disclosed that this is coming ahead of the Presidential election to ease the burdens of civil servants that will be travelling to vote
Nigerian Min. for Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed has made it known that the Federal Government has commenced the payment of salary for the month of February to civil servants ahead of the 2019 rescheduled Presidential election.
The Minister made this known today in the country’s federal capital, Abuja after the Federal Executive Council FEC meeting.
Alh. Lai Mohammed disclosed that the payment of salary for the month of February is made to ease the burden on Civil Servants, who would travel to participate in the Presidential election rescheduled to take place this Saturday, on the 23rd of February.
The Min. made it known that the payment for the month of February had started since Tuesday as against the normal 25th of every month when it is usually paid.

Alh. Lai Mohammad in his statement said, “On the part of the Federal Government we decided that to make it easy for those who will want to go back to vote, salary payment started on Tuesday as opposed to the normal 25th of every month.
“This is just to ease the burden of people who want to go back and cast their vote.”
Nigerian Electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC postponed the Presidential Election from the 16th of February to the 23rd of February after the body disclosed that it had problems with logistics.
However, the announcement on the postponed election was made by the electoral body chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu five hours to it commencement.
