Lampard Not Ready To Talk Down Manchester United Ahead Of EFL Cup Fourth Round

Chelsea started the Premier League season on a dismal note conceding a heavy defeat to Manchester United. The Blues are now set for a reunion with the Red devils at the Carabao Cup.

The folks at Stamford Bridge are feeling confident ahead of the encounter. However, Chelsea gaffer, Frank Lampard says he is no position to consider United a small team.

Lampard was ushered into the new campaign by a shaming 4-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

Manchester United on the other hand have failed to continue in that form with questions been asked of their manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

They have put up underwhelming performances since then and needed a penalty shoot-out to shut out Rochdale in the EFL Cup.

Their fourth round opponent, Chelsea, however showed how lower league sides should be dispatched. They swept Grimsby town under the carpet with a 7-1 win.

Lampard will be scratching his head at the prospect of playing Manchester United in the next round of the League Cup. However, he will be buoyed by the fact that his side are on a good run and would he looking to fare better against the Red devils this time than they did last time out.

Lampard said: “It’s a big draw, two big teams and I’m pleased we’re at home. We’ll see.

“I think a lot can happen in football in a short time. The next round is not coming tomorrow. We have to respect the fact they have good players.

“They beat us 4-0… so I’m certainly not going to stand here and talk Man Utd down.

“It’s going to be a tough game, and the beauty of what we did on Wednesday night was make the game look pretty easy.

“But these games can be tough and I’d rather, from a distance and having not watched the game, give Rochdale credit for taking them all the way. Man Utd will bring a strong team here.”
