The University of Africa Toru-Orua was established with the government of Bayelsa State signing of a memorandum of Understanding with Global Education Counselling Limited, Cyprus. The aim of the university is to create a centre of excellence in the state so students do not have to travel far away to obtain higher education. The academic institution offers a wide variety of courses and different programmes for students to choose from.

Prospective students who meet the cut off mark of University of Africa Toru-Orua UAT will be eligible for the university post UTME screening and may eventually be considered for admission. The minimum UTME cut off mark for UAT is 180.
