Lionel Messi captain of FC Barcelona has cuddled his arms around teammate, Philippe Coutinho as he provides support for the Brazilian who has consistently endured jeers from the club’s supporters.
Coutinho has endured an indifferent few months at Barcelona with several of the Catalan giants’ fans displeased with the player’s performances since he made his debut for the club.
The 3-0 win over Liverpool was no different as fans of the club continuously jeered him through the game before he was later substituted for right-back, Nelson Semedo.
Messi has expressed his displeasure at the happenings surrounding the Brazilian at the Camp Nou and has bashed Barcelona fans in regards to that.
According to the Daily Mail, the Argentine said:
“It’s ugly that they whistle a teammate like this. We are all in this together. We have to be united to the end because we are close to our objective now”
Coutinho has scored a total of eight goals and has turned provider on five occasions in a total of 44 outings in both the Laliga and Champions League competitions.
Coutinho has faced criticism all season by Blaugranas fans who are highly critical of his showings in the clubs games with the Brazilian playing second fiddle to Dembele for most parts of the season.
Messi has a better playing relationship with Ousmane Dembele, therefore cementing a place for the latter in the team.
However, recent injury to the Frenchman has afforded Coutinho a starting shirt and some time to prove himself a better player and more befitting of a first team player than Dembele.
Nevertheless, fans of the Spanish club do not think Coutinho has done enough and have continuously lashed out at him with the latest of those coming in the first leg of their Champions League tie with Liverpool.
