Liverpool Bury Burnley With Dominant Display

Liverpool left no stones unturned when they took on Burnley at the Anfield as they made light work of Sean Dyche’s men. However, the Reds hearts must have skipped a little bit when Burnley raced to take an early lead.

At a period in the season when every statement and action is forensically observed and studied by rivals, the Reds took the game by the scruff of its neck to keep their hopes of a title win alive.

Liverpool went one goal down inside of 10 minutes from a fantastic ball from Ashley Westwood. Westwood scored in the most remarkable of fashion when he whipped in a corner kick with the ball gone past the reach of Allison.

Allison protested against the goal claiming that he was impeded by Tarkowski and Burnley’s big men, an offence for which he was showered with a yellow card. However, the goal was allowed nevertheless.

Liverpool soon recovered from their shaky start with Adam Lallana at the heart of it, knitting beautiful passes between the midfield and attack for Firmino to convert before the 20 minutes mark.

Sadio Mane who’s been in fine form recently gave his side the lead heading into half-time.

Heaton’s mistake in the 67th-minute gave room for the Reds’ third with his clearance dropping gracefully into the path of Mohammed Salah. As the Egyptian rushed to send the ball goal-bound, Charlie Taylor’s tackle dropped the ball into the gleeful path of Firmino for the Brazilian’s second.

Mane then rounded Heaton to slot the ball home with the Senegalese ignoring Salah who looked beggarly for a final pass. The Egyptian hasn’t been lucky in front of goal and is now without a goal in his last six matches.

Prior to Mane’s goal, the Clarets had added another through Gudmundsson but that wouldn’t do damage to the Reds who were flying high and dominant on all fronts.

Liverpool 4-2 Burnley it happened.
