Liverpool Deny Retaining Interest In Nabil Fekir

Liverpool reportedly have no plans to resurrect their interest in French sensation, Nabil Fekir in spite of reports from media outlets in France suggesting the contrary.

Last season, the Reds were on the verge of completing a £53 million transfer for the Lyon star, going as far as interviewing the player and taking a picture in a Liverpool shirt only to pull out of the transfer due to concerns over a historic knee injury.

Liverpool looked elsewhere for other options after the initial medical and decided not to risk proceeding with such a high-value transfer.

Reports in France say that the Reds still maintain an interest in Fekir who is going into the final year of his contract with some of these reports even suggesting that a five-year deal had been offered.

Nonetheless, it is understood that Liverpool are adamant and have declared the deal dead with the 25 year old having failed his medical last year.

Lyon President, Jean Michel Aulas has said that there is an understanding to allow Fekir to leave.

However, with a £45 million still hanging around his neck and just 12 months left on his contract, Lyon will greatly benefit from the auction of his services.
