Liverpool Ensure 17th Consecutive Victory In The Premier League

Liverpool are simply impenetrable, call it some form of juggernaut it you like, but that’s definitely not far from the truth.

They have now gone 17 victories, only one short of Manchester City’s record of 18.

These two clubs are at an all-time high and are redefining standards in England’s top-flight.

Just when it looked like Liverpool had juddered to a halt, brought to a stop by a promising Leicester side showing promises of being a top-four contender this term; James Milner made sure of a victory in injury time.

Marc Albrighton, who had put up a good showing since he was brought in at halftime in an effort to race back, nicked the ball into his penalty box before losing it to Sadio Mane.

In an attempt to atone for his sins, he clipped Mane, and the Senegalese fell with so much act as is expected from a Grammy winner. The result? A beautiful penalty tucked away by none other than Mr. Professional, James Milner.

Penalties might look like the easiest of opportunities to register your name on the scoresheet, but there was still the brilliant Kasper Schmeichel to beat.

Mr. Professional stepped up to take the kick, extraordinary calm before dispatching the penalty into the right side of the goal.

Anfield erupted, but it was only slightly as they had to sweat blood to dig this win, Brendan Rodgers on his return to Merseyside, made sure of that.

The former Celtic gaffer had spent much of the week talking about how he didn’t regret taking the game to Chelsea when he might have won the league here back in 2014.

Leicester had held their own, tried to engineer some half chances and matched Liverpool in midfield. They were sturdy at the back with the duo of Caglar Soyuncu and Jonny Evans giving Mohammed Salah a bit of a headache.

However, they fell to the dagger brandished by M & Ms, the duo of Mane and Milner.

Another three points for Liverpool it is.
