Team News

Liverpool

Liverpool are still unbeaten in the Premier League this season and go into the weekend sitting only two points adrift of leaders Manchester City.

The Reds will quickly want to forget their Champions League worries on Sunday when they welcome neighbours Everton to Anfield for the 232nd Merseyside derby.

Liverpool are also in the form of their lives, after enjoying their longest ever unbeaten streak against Everton and have not lost a home Merseyside derby since 1999 but Everton will be bouyed by their own recent form.

Many of Liverpool’s best performances this season have come in their preferred 4-2-3-1 formation. After the 4-3-3 midfield trio struggled again in the Champions League on Wednesday Coach Jurgen Klopp is expected to sample that system this weekend.

Jordan Henderson is suspended for the match while, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (knee), and Adam Lallana (muscle) are injured and will not be selected.

Xerdan Shaqiri could earn a recall to the side and more importantly Mohamed Salah is on course for his 50th premier league appearance for Liverpool.

Liverpool possible starting eleven:

Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Milner, Wijnaldum; Shaqiri, Firmino, Mane; Salah

Everton

Everton will be looking to put and end to a 19-year wait for victory at Anfield.

Indeed the Toffees have not won an away derby since 1999 and are without a win of any kind in this fixture since 2010 – a 17-match run which is their longest ever spell without victory against Liverpool.

Coach Marco Silva could become the first Everton manager in history to win his first Merseyside derby at Anfield. He will place his confidence in a recent run of form which has seen his side lose just one of their last seven league games.

Everton have no injury concerns ahead of the match, although Jonjo Kenny and James Mc Carthy are doubts.

In-form Gylfi Sigurdsson, Idris Gueye and Andre Gomes are midfield regulars. Richarlison is expected to lead the line and Yerry Mina, Lucas Digne and Bernard all expected to keep their positions.

Everton possible starting eleven:

Pickford; Coleman, Keane, Mina, Digne; Gomez, Gueye; Walcott, Sigurdsson, Bernard; Richarlison

Head To Head

This match will be the 100th top-flight Merseyside derby to be played at Anfield, with Liverpool having won 43 of the previous 99 with 33 draws and 23 defeats.
