Adamawa state is one of the three states that are most affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in Northeast Nigeria. It came into existence in 1991 when Taraba state was created from Gongola state. Adamawa state is made up of Local Government Areas and has Bindo Jibrilla as its governor.

Demsa Local Government Area is inhabited by ethnic groups such as Maya, Bare, Fulani, Mbula, Bille, Bachama, Batta and Yandang. This LGA has an area of 1,825KM². Demsa LGA was created in 1991 and is made up of seven Towns.
