Adamawa state is one of the three states that are most affected by the Boko Haram insurgency in Northeast Nigeria. It came into existence in 1991 when Taraba state was created from Gongola state. Adamawa state is made up of Local Government Areas and has Bindo Jibrilla as its governor.
