Luke Shaw Wins Manchester United Player Of The Year Award

Luke Shaw has been deservedly awarded the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year award for being the best Manchester United player this term.

Shaw, 23, was honoured with the awards at Manchester Uhited end of season awards. Like Shaw has enjoyed a phenomenal season nailing 40 appearances and being rewarded with a new five-year contract in October.

The Englishman is only the second outfield player honoured with the award in the post-Sir Alex Ferguson era after Ander Herrera who was voted players’ player of the year to years ago.

Luke Shaw on receiving the award said it was a nice achievement for him but that he’d rather have a better season as a team.

He says for him, it’s been his best season but that he would have preferred a better season for the team as a whole.

“I think for me personally it’s probably been my best season since I’ve been here. I would have rather it had been a better season for the team but it wasn’t meant to be. Thank you to the fans for voting me for this. And from me and the team we want to, not apologise, but we know it’s been a bad season”

Shaw went on to say that the team was packed with quality players and that he could see the team coming back stronger next season.

The English left-back thanked the fans for their undying love and support for him.

“It’s very special, especially [to receive the award from the fans]. They’ve always stuck by me and I pay that back to them by winning trophies – not trophies like this – but thank you to them and that’s all I’ve got to say.”, he said.

He stressed that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had brought a massive change to the club and that the Norwegian gaffer was well informed about the history of the club and what it needed.

Andreas Perreira also bagged the goal of the season accolade for his wonder goal against Southampton in United’s 3-2 win over the Saints.
