Madagali Disaster – Boko Haram Still on Rampage
Boko Haram terrorists have once again struck terror into the hearts of innocent Nigerians. This time, their victims are residents of Madagali a small town in Adamawa state.
Fleeing Boko Haram insurgents from Sambisa Forest have recently been perpetrating all sorts of havoc in many parts of northern Nigeria, especially in states such as Adamawa and Borno state.
Earlier today, multiple explosions were heard in a crowded motor park in Madagali, Adamawa State as another terror attack rocked the town.
Initially, scores were feared dead as the men of the Nigerian Army who were coincidentally stationed close to the moto park swung into action to forestall any further explosions; however it was later determined that less than four people excluding the attackers had died in the blast.
Friday’s attack by the dreaded Islamic sect will serve as a pointer to the fact that the activities of Boko Haram terrorists in Nigeria is a long way from being over.
The pictures we saw after the blast depicted horror – security agents and rescue workers were seen evacuating the dead and injured from the scene.
It was gathered that the attack was carried out by three suicide bombers who tried to force themselves into the most crowded area of the motor park. A witness who identified himself as Baba said, the blasts occurred close to a checkpoint at the entrance of the town.
Baba said: “We heard three blasts near the checkpoint where people gathered to be screened before entering the town as you know today is market day.”
“The bombers blew themselves up alongside the two vigilante members that approached them.”
In his reaction, the member representing Madagali/Michika Federal constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Adamu Kamale, but could not actually confirm if there were casualties.
“Information available to me showed that there was no death in the blast, except that some people sustained injuries,” Kamale said. However, from what we can gather, at least four civilians died in the blast, alongside the three suicide bombers.
Like we said in the title, this attack goes to show that the Boko Haram insurgents are still very much active, and the Nigerian Army must be on their toes.
