Man City Ahead Of United In Race To Sign Harry Maguire

Manchester City are looking to beat their local rivals, Manchester United to the signing of Leicester City defender, Harry Maguire.

Both Manchester clubs are in the race to sign the hefty centre-back but a report by Mirror suggests that the Citizens are the frontrunners for the signing.

Maguire is ready to move on to a new challenge after two wonderful seasons at the King Power Stadium and the defender is said to prefer to play under the tutelage of Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola is thought to be in the market for a perfect replacement for Vincent Kompany and now sees the 26 year old England International as a good replacement for the skipper who said bye to the Etihad at the end of the just concluded season.

Man United are also interested in Maguire but have failed to reach the Foxes’ evaluation of their prized asset.

Though, Leicester are said to value Maguire at £80 million, they would be willing to accept a fee of £65 million from City.

If the move pulls through, Maguire would be the club’s most expensive player with his fee eclipsing the fee for which his former teammate, Mahrez was brought to the Etihad.

Maguire will then join a host of other England Internationals who play for the Citizens in Raheem Sterling, Kyle Walker, John Stones and Fabian Delph at City.

City are also set to seal the deal for a replacement of ageing Fernandinho with their capture of Atletico Madrid midfielder, Rodri for a fee of £62.5 million this summer in a huge show of strength from the Premier League champions.

In spite of their back to back Premier League titles, Manchester City are looking to reinforce in the transfer window with their eyes set on clinching the Champions League trophy.

United on the other hand have tabled a bid of £40 million, which is nothing close to what Leicester would entertain.
