Manchester City Confirm Cancelo-Danilo Swap Plus £60million

The pair of Manchester City and Juventus have swapped full-back as Juan Cancelo makes way to the Etihad stadium and Danilo the other way.

The English champions secure their third signing of the summer transfer window with the capture of Cancelo and Turin giants, Juventus grabbing Danilo plus cash as part of the deal.

The full back has signed a six year deal that will keep him at the Etihad till the summer of 2025 and is now the Citizens third signing following the captures of Rodri and Angelino.

“City are a fantastic club, with a brilliant manager and I am delighted to be here,” the full-back said in a press release.

“Everything about them has impressed me, from the facilities, to their style of play.

“I am always looking to develop my game and win trophies and I believe I can do that here, so now I’m really looking forward to the new season and testing myself in the Premier League.”

Cancelo provided one goal and five assists in 34 appearances as the Biaconeris lifted an eighth consecutive Serie A title following a summer move from Valencia.

The Portuguese defender featured for Benfica and Inter Milan while he also represented Portugal at the inaugural UEFA Nations League which his side won after defeating Netherlands in the finals.

Cancelo moves to Manchester City at a value of £60 million while Juve acquire Danilo at a value of £34.1 million.

“Joao is a fine player and an excellent attacking full-back who will provide us with a real threat on the right-hand side,” said the Citizens’ director of football Txiki Begiristain.

“We have been impressed with his progress and have no doubt he can continue to shine here in Manchester.

“He fits the profile of player we want here at Manchester City. His best years are ahead of him, he’s technically proficient and has the physical attributes we desire.

“I am delighted we have secured his signature.”

Danilo has also signed a five year deal with Juventus after a two season spell at City.
