Manchester United Dealt Huge Blow With De Gea Injury

Manchester United have been dealt a big blow ahead of their encounter with bitter rivals, Liverpool with an injury to David De Gea in Spain’s Euro 2020 qualifier against Sweden.

The Span International goalie limped off while on International duty and is ruled out of contention for the Red Devils game against the folks at Anfield.

De Gea, a four-time Player of the Year awardee with United was forced out of action on the hour mark.

The shot-stopper who recently signed a new deal to keep him at Old Trafford made a number of impressive saves before being forced off and replaced by Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga. That said, the United goalkeeper couldn’t stop the opener from teammate, Marcus Rashford.

David appeared to have initially hurt himself during the first forty-five minutes of the encounter before making another of his trademark saves.

So much for the injury scare during the first half that he was seen grimacing in pain.

He continued after the interval but his exertions at the time seemed to be too much as he then submitted to a goal by Rashford.

“David made a great save in the first half and it is wonderful to have three great goalkeepers,” said La Roja boss Robert Moreno.

“He was suffering from pain in his abductor muscle but he received treatment at half-time and he wanted to keep playing. He gave us his word but, in the end, he couldn’t continue.”

The former Atletico Madrid man has come under fire for his performances in recent months.

He has not been impressive at the back with some of his individual displays causing reasons for concern at the back.

Coupled with Manchester United’s abysmal performance under the stead of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, many have continued to ask questions of the goalkeeper with several sections of the crowd at the Old Trafford doubting whether the Spaniard is still in top form.

He has only made three appearances for Spain this year since establishing himself as Spain’s first-choice goalkeeper last year.
