Manchester United Equal Worst Ever Premier League Defensive Run In Bournemouth Game
Manchester United have equalled the worst Premier League defensive run after failing to keep a clean sheet away from home to south coast side, Bournemouth.
Josh King put one out of the reach of Wan Bissaka and between the legs of De Gea to ensure that the Red devil’s worrying form away from home continues.
The striker controlled the cross from Adam Smith using his chest, flicked it past Wan Bissaka and slapped the ball against the ground and into the net to give his side the much-needed win.
That goal meant Manchester United have been unable to keep a clean sheet in any of their last 11 away games in England’s top-flight, their joint-longest run in the Premier League.
The last time the Red devils went 11 away games without a clean sheet was as far back as 2002 when they failed to keep a clean sheet between August 2002 and January 2003.
They would however be looking to break this “jinx” when they make a trip to Sheffield United later this month.
Josh King who formerly plied his trade at Old Trafford ended a bad run for the Cherries as he slammed in the ball to give his side all three points, much to the delight of the home crowd.
Bournemouth had previously attempted 50 shots in the Premier league without a goal, a terrible spell spanning 358 minutes of game time.
Putting things in perspective, the last time Manchester United claimed a clean sheet is as far back as 10 months ago when they dealt an eventually-relegated Fulham a devastating 3-0 blow.
Since then, the Red devils have conceded against Crystal Palace, Arsenal, Wolves, Everton and Huddersfield at the tail-end of last season, as well as Wolves for the second time. This term they have failed to keep clean sheet against Southampton, West Ham, Newcastle and Norwich.
