Manchester United Stun PSG With Unbelievable Come-Back

Manchester United have done the unthinkable and have made emotions flow through the veins of Sir Alex Ferguson once more like blood would through the veins of a mere mortal with the legendary gaffer making an appearance at the Parc des Princes.

No fewer than 106 times has a club tried to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg and fallen short. United weren’t going to be the 107th and they did this with a depleted team with a roster short of 10 starting players.

It is a quite extraordinary and astonishing testimony to the Spirit that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has brought to the club. The results and performances were simply heroic and a product of sheer, bloody-minded guts.

It was a remarkable first half and ManUnited were flawed on all fronts, managing only 13 percent possession and only 25 passes while PSG had racked up a gargantuan 256 passes.

But it was Big Rom who got on the scoresheet first after Kehrer under the pressure of Marcus Rashford made a poor pass towards captain, Silva. Romelu Lukaku got off on the right foot and took the ball beyond the reach of Buffon and Thiago Silva, slipping the ball into the right corner with a sliding effort from his left boot.

PSG had tried to take control of the game but had been undone, undone by themselves infact. Thomas Tuchel will be shooting his players on the foot for giving away a goal so cheaply.

But then the French Champions gave an excellent response with Kylian Mbappe having peeled away from Shaw and Lindelof sending a flying cross for an unmarked Julian Bernat to convert.

Ole Gunnar who had employed a 3-5-2 formation with Eric baily playing out on the right on seeing that the Ivorian was a weak link opted to remove him for right-back Diogo Dalot to restore parity and balance to the play.

Parity it was as Marcus Rashford took a shot at goal but Gianluigi Buffon spilled the ball for Romelu Lukaku to score his sixth goal in his last three games.

United fans ran riot. It was unbelievable as United looked like they were staging a comeback as early as the first 45 minutes.

Paris Saint Germain soon responded by upping their pressure but United were saved by the whistle.

With Manchester United in front and needing one goal to qualify, you just get the feeling they just might succeed in their quest. But then, the brilliant OGS instructed the team to sit back and soak up all the pressure and unleash it in the final 10 minutes just like the chakara in the Naruto video game.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer brought on youngsters Tahith Chong and Mason Greenwood with the latter breaking the record of the youngest player (17yrs 156 days) to ever play in the Champions League, one previously set by Gerard Pique (17yrs 310days), as they sought that final goal that would take them through.

Did you ever think you could find a RB on the left flank? That’s what pressure does to you when you pour men forward. Diogo Dalot from the left flank took a shot at goal but it was blocked by the hands of Kimpembe with the VAR forcing the referee to point to the spot.

Kimpembe who got on the scoresheet in the first leg changed from hero to villain when Marcus Rashford took the penalty and converted from the spot with only a few minutes left on the clock to play and get dirty.

Parc des Princes was lit. Nothing like this has ever been seen. A spirited United had caused another shock to the footballing world only few hours after Ajax had undone Real Madrid.

This look on Neymar’s face says it all

PSG 1-3 Manchester United it ended.

Manchester United qualify on away goals having drawn 3-3 on aggregate.
