Mario Balotelli Gives His Take On The Messi-Ronaldo Debate

Mario Balotelli has picked a side of the divide in the battle of who the greater of Ronaldo and Messi is as the Italian lauds the Argentine as the best to ever grace the game.

Messi produced a man-of-the-match performance in Wednesday night’s Champions League clash with Liverpool where he scored a brace and was a cut over all the other 21 players on the turf.

The Argentine talisman scored two goals with one of those a stupendous 30-yards-freekick which he sent high into the top left corner of Alisson’s post to mark his 600th goal for the Laliga club exactly 14 years from when he scored his first goal for Barcelona on the 1st of May 2005.

Messi has since been praised by football fans and pundits across the world for that majestic and beastly performance.

Balotelli seemingly left in awe of the 31-yr-old’s dominance and football heroics called for comparisons between the attacker cum midfielder and Juventus foward, Cristiano Ronaldo to end immediately.

“For the love of football please do not compare him to the No. 7 of Juventus anymore!”, the controversial Marseille forward wrote in a post on Instagram.
Balotelli suggested that the Argentine was his pick and the better of the two in what has been a long standing debate between the two prolific goalscorers.

Both Messi and Ronaldo have won five Balon d’Ors apiece and paradventure the former wins the Champions League, he would be the front runner for this year’s edition.

The 31-yr-old has now scored 12 goals in this season’s Champions League and a total of 34 goals in the Laliga as opposed to Ronaldo who has managed 20 Serie A goals with six in the Champions League this term.

Messi has been impressive this term, wrapping up the Laliga last weekend and on course for a treble winning season with Barcelona also in the finals of the Copa del Rey competition.
