This means that the Argentine gaffer would have to sit out in the stands at the Lilywhites game against his former club, Southampton.

Pochettino who marshalled his side into the quarter-finals after a 1-0 win at Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of their last-16 was sanctioned by the FA following his clash with referee, Mike Dean after Spurs Premier League’s loss to Burnley.

Pochettino has declined to make any comments or revelation on what Mike Dean said but accepted the charge. Prior to this, he inadvertently revealed he was to be punished during his press conference at Dortmund after misunderstanding a question put to him.

He said: “A ban, why? I don’t believe that it’s going to happen. I don’t think that’s going to be fair.

“Do you think it’s fair? For what? For what? It was a conversation, no? Maybe it was close but it was a conversation.

“I don’t believe it is fair. But I’m going to accept if they ban me and I can’t be in the dugout against Southampton.

“I am going to accept it. It’s different if it’s fair or not, I don’t believe it is but I’m going to trust the FA and accept what they say.”

This would be the first time in his seven years at Spurs that Mauricio Pochettino would have to sit out in the stands and face punishment by the FA.

The Argentine gaffer is well known for promoting and developing young talents as he had done in Southampton and now Tottenham.
