Messi Freekick Against Liverpool Wins UEFA Goal Of The Season

Lionel Messi stunning freekick curler seems to be the only good thing to come out of Barcelona’s disastrous defeat to Merseyside club, Liverpool for the Blaugranas.

The Argentine’s wonderful freekick earned him plaudits and praises all over and has even been further capped as the best goal of the 2018/2019 UEFA Champions League tournament.

The set piece effort from 30 yards out won the hearts of so many and left several Liverpool defenders left in awe of the magic of the singer’s left foot.

This goal came in the 81st minute of the first leg of the double-legged tie. In spite of a below par performance, Barcelona were two goals up at the Nou Camp.

With a freekick chance some metres away from the net, the responsibility fell onto the shoulders of Messi once again and the five time Balon D’Or winner made no mistake about it as he sunk the ball in a corner of the goal.

Messi’s free kick was undoubtedly stunning with Liverpool goalie, Alisson failing to come close enough to the swirling kick which rifled into the top corner.

With that goal, Messi notched his 12th in 9 Champions League appearances but failed to score any other before he was knocked out of the competition.
