– The aide to Pres. Muhammadu Buhari, Garba Shehu has once again stated that Miyetti Allah is a legal stakeholder in the country
– This comes after he had earlier declared that Miyetti Allah is a social cultural group like Afenifere and Ohaeneze
In an earlier statement some days ago, the Special Adviser to Pres. Muhammadu Buhari on New and Media , Garba Shehu in a statement on Channels TV had stressed that the Miyetti Allah like the Afenifere and Ohaeneze is a social-cultural group.
But the statement didn’t go down well the other social-cultural groups which released separate statements condemning the comments and also criticizing the Pres. Muhammadu Buhari led Government for it decision to dialogue with Miyetti Allah, which have been linked with various violence in the country.
However, in another latest statement released by Garba Shehu, he said Miyetti Allah is a legal stakeholder in the country and should be respected.
He added that the Government needed to engage all stakeholders and seek partnership in building the country.
Below is the statement released by Garba Shehu
“Miyetti Allah, like any other trade, community, ethnic organization or interest group is a legal stake holder in our nation and should be respected. We maintain that the government needs to engage all stakeholders and seek partnership in building our country.
“The activities of Miyetti Allah do not benefit selected ethnicities or Muslims only, but everyone. Long before petroleum became the core of Nigerian economy, agriculture was the main source of Nigerian wealth. Cattle, hides and skin were a major part of Nigerian export.
“It is right to state that there are criminals among every group in Nigeria and in every country. There are criminals among the northern population as there are in the southern part of the country. It is not good to generalise blames. The government will engage each stakeholder and create dialogue between, and among, different groups.”
