Buhari Condones Corruption, NNPC Steals $1 Billion Daily ― Saraki

Senate President Bukola Saraki has labelled President Muhammadu Buhari as a man who lacks the much-trumpeted integrity adding that the management of fuel subsidy regime was enough to demystify the President’s integrity.

The Senate President said that the much-vaunted integrity claims of President Muhammadu Buhari cannot be substantiated in view of his poor performance in the last three years.

According to him, the management of the fuel subsidy payments put serious question marks on Buhari’s integrity adding that whereas the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan was accused of condoning corruption when it based subsidy claims on 30 million daily fuel consumption, Buharis government had based daily fuel consumption at 50 million.

He said that the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), was really cheating Nigerians with not less than N1billion daily from the amount meant for the subsidy.


I Will Bring More Federal Presence To Lagos – APC Senatorial Candidate

All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Lagos East Senatorial District, Hon. Bayo Osinowo said the passion to bring more federal presence and dividends of democracy to the masses greatly informed his aspiration.

The APC senatorial candidate popularly addressed as “Pepperito,” said this on Wednesday at Town Hall meeting, which was organised by Team Pepper Mobilisation Committee for Kosofe stakeholders, with party leaders and members, some traditional rulers and religious leaders, artisans, youths groups, market men and women, among others in attendance.

Speaking at the event tagged: “Pepperito Meets Kosofe Stakeholders,” the 4th- term lawmaker representing Kosofe Constituency I at the Lagos State House of Assembly, said his interest was to help the humanity more at the Senate, assuring the people of his resolve not to disappoint them if voted into office.


Anambra Assembly Reconvenes 

The Anambra State House of Assembly resumed sitting yesterday after Christmas
and New Year break.

Welcoming the lawmakers back to the House after Christmas and New Year celebrations, the Speaker, Mrs. Rita Maduagwu, stated that the sixth Assembly under her watch will enact more quality laws that will guarantee accelerated development of Anambra State in the next seven months.

Barrister Maduagwu expressed Joy that the present lawmakers have done so well in the empowerment of their constituents including scholarship schemes and business promotions and will continue in that light.


Police Parade Alleged Killer

Authorities of the Osun State Police Command, on Wednesday, paraded Yekini Ayinde, the prime suspect allegedly involved in the killing of one Sanusi Isiaka, a rice dealer from Saki, a community in Oyo State.

Ayinde had some weeks back been declared wanted by the police when two other people he hired to kill the deceased were arrested.

Parading the suspect, Osun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fimihan Adeoye, hinted that Ayinde was apprehended in Lagos last week amidst intense trailing by men of the command.


Remi Oseni Withdraws From Court Case

The crisis rocking the Oyo State chapter of the Action Democratic Congress (ADC) is far from over as Aderemi Oseni, one of its governorship aspirants has dissociated himself from the court case instituted in the aftermath of its governorship primary in the state.

Oseni, a leading contestant for the governorship ticket of the party which was eventually won by Senator Sola Lanlehin, disclosed in a statement issued on Wednesday, that he would not be a party to falsehood.

Explaining why he was no longer involved in the legal action instituted by 12 former ADC governorship aspirants, he said it would not be good enough for him to ignore “some of the misleading and unfair information that was sent out after the court hearing in Abuja on 21 January 2019.


INEC Plans To Recruit 15,000 AdHoc Staff CrossRiver Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Cross River says it will recruit 15,000 ad hoc staff for the forthcoming general elections in the state.

The State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr Frankland Briyai, made this known on Wednesday at a media briefing on preparations of the commission for the elections in Calabar.

Briyai said: “We are going to recruit 15,000 ad hoc staff through the online application.


20,000 Girls Were Trafficked From Nigeria — NAPTIP Report

As many as 20,000 women and girls are feared to have been trafficked from Nigeria to Mali where they are stranded after being forced into prostitution, the head of Nigeria’s anti-trafficking agency said on Tuesday.

Julie Okah-Donli, director general of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), said a fact-finding team from NAPTIP and the International Organization for Migration (IOM) had uncovered the extent of the trafficking during a visit to southern Mali last month.

Dozens of women and girls were repatriated from the Kangaba area of southern Mali in the preceding months. The team, which went to the area to investigate, found hundreds more being held there.


 

I Will Protect Nigeria’s Integrity – Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged to protect the integrity of Nigerians and safeguard their trust at all times.

The President made the remarks on Wednesday while addressing thousands of All Progressives Congress (APC) supporters at a rally in the state.

He said that his administration had successfully succeeded in its three cardinal objectives of fighting corruption, revamping agriculture and improving security.


Buhari Admonishes Nigerians Not To Relent In Agriculture

President Muhammadu Buhari has urged Nigerians not to relent in their support for the Federal Government’s drive to move away from over-dependence on oil to agriculture.

Buhari made the call while addressing supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during his presidential campaign in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday

”I was in Kebbi in 2015, during my campaigns and I made three promises: To transform the economy, boost security, as well as fight corruption, headlong,” the APC presidential candidate said.


Peter Obi Visits Ladipo, Computer Village

The vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Peter Obi, on Wednesday, in the company of the Lagos State candidate of the party, Jimi Agbaje, paid an unscheduled visit to the business hubs of state, where he promised the traders of pro-business administration if his party wins 2019 presidential election.

 He was joined by Agbaje during his impromptu visit to markets in Lagos, which include, the Ladipo Auto Spare Part Market and Computer Village, both at Oshodi and Ikeja axis of the state and FESTAC, where he reiterated his support for the advancement of the marketers’ businesses.

The rousing welcome the traders gave Obi and his entourage, chanting and singing songs of his praise turned the visit to a carnival of sorts, turned Obi’s visit to Lagos markets into a carnival of all sorts, as the traders in the markets closed their shops, shut down the streets, while chanting praises of the two-term governor of Anambra State.
