Neville Remains Upbeat About Ighalo Making More Impact Than Lukaku And Sanchez

Manchester United legend, Gary Neville opines that Nigeria striker, Odion Ighalo would make greater impact at United than the duo of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.

Neville is upbeat that the January signing will have a successful spell at Old Trafford as the striker has started showing glimpses of what he’s capable of.

Ighalo has hit the ground running since his loan move from Chinese outfit, Shanghai Shenhua. The striker has now found the net three times in seven appearances for the Red devils including a brace in United’s FA Cup victory over Derby County last week.

Neville is optimistic that Ighalo would leave behind better memories compared to the duo of Lukaku and Sanchez. Lukaku was signed one permanent deal while Sanchez signed for the Nerazzuris on loan.

A player with desperation and work ethic with less talent will do better at any club than a player that’s got more talent than we’ve had at Manchester United,” the Manchester United legend said on Sky Sports.

“Think of Lukaku being here and Sanchez being here and players like that over the last few years who’ve not wanted to be here.

“They’ve done okay for the club, Lukaku in particular, but if they don’t want to be here they’re going to have a damaging effect in that dressing room and he [Ighalo] is going to have a brilliant effect in the dressing room.”

Ighalo will be hoping to make only his third start since his move to United when the Ole Gunnar Solskjaer-side take on LASK in Thursday’s Europa League encounter.
