1. Don Jazzy Begs for Prayers for His Slumbering Artistes

Don Jazzy has admitted that something was amiss with the artistes in his music label, Marvin Records.

While responding to a fan who asked if his label was having challenges, Don Jazzy stylishly said ‘yes’. He then called for prayers from fans for his artistes to recover.

In Don Jazzy’s words, “No, we are not dead yet. We just fainted a little. It happens. Pray for us to recover if you can”.

2. EFCC Announces Rally against Vote Buying

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has announced that it will hold a rally against vote buying in Abuja on Sunday.

The Acting Chairman of the commission, Mr Ibrahim Magu, said the ‘Say No to Vote Buying’rally would hold at the Unity Fountain by 2pm.

The rally aims at sensitizing and mobilizing the grassroots against different forms of vote buying.

3. N100Bn Sukuk Fund for Roads

FG has announced that it will use the N100 billion Sovereign Sukuk bonds proceeds to construct 642.69 kilometres of roads across in Nigeria.

The cheque of N100Bn was presented by the Finance minister, Zainab Ahmed, to the Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Mr Babatunde Fashola on Thursday in Abuja.

The minister said the money was shared equally among the six geo-political zones, which meant each geo-political zone would get N16.67 billion for the number of roads to be completed in them.

He went further by giving a breakdown of the number of roads to be constructed as follows:

Six roads would be constructed in the North Central, five in the North-East, four in the North-West, another four in the South-East, six in the South-South and three in the South-West.

4. Confusion Surrounds Adekunle Gold, Simi’s Rumoured Wedding

The early hours of Wednesday morning was awash with rumours of a secret traditional wedding between two sensational Nigerian artistes, Adekunle Gold and Simi.

According to the rumors, the secret traditional wedding held at a location in Victoria Island, Lagos, while the white wedding was scheduled to hold on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Ilashe Beach, Lagos.

However, according to a report by Vanguard News that it reached out to Adekunle Gold’s management spokesperson who denied any knowledge that any traditional wedding ceremony or white wedding took place between the singers yesterday or any other day.

Meanwhile, Adekunle Gold yesterday, retweeted series of congratulatory messages of fans on his twitter page, but later deleted everything. Simi has remained radio silent.

5. Naira Loses Marginally Against Dollar, Now N361 to $1

The Naira, on Thursday, lost marginally against the dollar at the parallel market in Lagos, exchanging at N361 to the dollar.

The Naira traded at 50 Kobo, weaker than N360.5 traded on Wednesday.

The Pound Sterling closed at N410.

At the Bureau De Change (BDC) window, the Naira closed at N360 to the dollar, while the Pound Sterling closed at N410.

Trading at the investors’ window saw the Naira closing at N365.12 to the dollar as market turnover stood at 142.64 million dollars.The naira exchanged at N306.90 at the official CBN window.

The naira had remained stable at the market largely due to interventions by the CBN.

As the United States and China continue to make progress in trade dialogue and the subsequent rise in the price of oil at the international market, Nigeria’s external reserves was expected to shore up. (NAN)

6. Dogara Calls Out Northern Elders for not Criticizing Buhari Like Jonathan

Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Yakubu Dogara, has called out the northern elders for not raising their voices against the incessant insecurity challenges plaguing the region just as they did during the former President Goodluck Jonathan administration.

Speaking in Lafia, Nasarawa State at the campaign of the PDP on Thursday, Dogara said that their silence on the insecurity in the region could be translated as creating enabling environment for poor security management especially in the North.

7. Lai Mohammed Announces Plan to Remove Saraki’s Loyalist in Executive Positions

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed on Thursday said some of the loyalists of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, who are holding federal executive positions will soon be kicked out.

In his word, “Some of the people they nominated to the boards of government’s agencies and parastatals are still there, yet they claim that Kwara has not benefitted from this Federal Government”.

He added, ‘‘These people, some of whom are holding executive positions, will soon be shown the way out.”

The Minister disclosed this on Thursday in Ilorin at a ceremony organised by the Kwara APC to sensitise and mobilise the  women leaders ahead of the forthcoming elections.

8. INEC Releases Steps for Voting Procedure

9. Buhari Using Govt Money for Reelection Campaign – Atiku

The PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar on Thursday accused President Muhammadu Buhari of lying when he said he won’t use government funds or resources for his personal campaign.

Buhari had on Wednesday said he would not allow the use of public funds for the APC campaign.

However, Atiku Abubakar has cited alleged instances where the federal Ministry of Information and culture has been producing “campaign materials” for APC.

According to Atiku, “We wish to remind President Buhari and the APC that the use of state videos released by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture is illegal under the Electoral Act 2010 as amended”.

He continued, “The media is awash with advertisements with the hashtag #PMBDIDIT and signed by the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture and referencing so-called achievements of the APC administration in the states of Abia, Kwara, Lagos, Ebonyi, Delta and Kano, among others.”

10. Senator Tinubu’s National Assembly Office Burgled

The national assembly office of Senator Remi Tinubu, representing Lagos central, has been burgled.

According Nifemi Aje, the senator’s aide, the burglars destroyed the CCTV and carted away “critical items”.

He said items carted away included an HP laptop, an internet device, machine box attached to CCTV HP screen and some copies of Laws of the federation.
