Saraki CALLS 2019 Budget HOPELESS

President of the Senate, Sen. Bukola Saraki has described the 2019 Budget as hopeless.

Saraki, who spoke at an interactive session between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Civil Societies Organization (CSOs) expressed a lack of confidence in the 2019 Appropriation Bill.

He said, “Yesterday (Wednesday), we all heard the 2019 budget. That is a budget that has no hope for anybody because if you look at the statistics and the figures there’s poverty, if you look at the figures based on revenues that are coming in, there is nothing left. So where’s the future?

Also speaking at the event, was the Former Governor of Anambra State and Vice Presidential Candidate of the PDP – Peter Obi – who decried the 2019 budget as appalling.

Banky W Cries In agony Over Campaign Posters

Top musician and candidate of the Modern Democratic Party, Olabankole Wellington, popularly referred to as Banky W, has lamented bitterly on his Instagram page over the defacing and tearing off of his campaign posters in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State.

He wrote, “It cost my team and I so much money, time and efforts to put our posters up in the community. So you can imagine how demoralising it feels to wake up today and find out that supporters of my opponents went around overnight, tearing my face out of some of them.

“The Modern Democratic Party is not just a political party platform. The MDP is a movement. No matter how they try to stop or silence us, the movement continues. We can do this if we do it together.”

Banky W is contesting for the Eti Osa Federal Constituency in the 2019 general elections.

PDP Attacks Buhari Over Airport

The Peoples Democratic Party has mocked the President over his attempt to claim the new Terminal Building at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, as an achievement of his administration.

The spokesman of the PDP said “It is public knowledge that the project was designed, conceptualized and fully financed by its administration.”

The PDP further advised President Buhari to accept his failures.

Kogi Governor Insults Federal Lawmakers

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, has said that it was indeed a shameful act for members of the House of Representatives and Senators, to have booed the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the recent budget presentation at the joint session of the National Assembly in Abuja.

He said “When you have a child that is not well-trained by his parents, he constitutes a menace to the society and that was exactly what was witnessed at the National Assembly.

Governor Bello thanked President Buhari for a wonderful presentation of the 2019 budget.

National Assembly Strike Suspended

The National Industrial Court of Nigeria has ordered the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) to refrain from proceeding on its planned major strike.

Justice Sanusi Kado, had done so in an order of interim injunction, on suit: NICN/ABJ/360/2018.

Justice Kado also cautioned the management of the National Assembly against disrupting ongoing negotiations.

Controversy trails Genevieve’s ‘Lion Heart’ cinema screening

Genevieve Nnaji’s team – The Lion Heart’s team – has alleged that the “powers that be” have refused to show the movie in their cinemas.

The movie which was announced last Friday that its cinema screening in Nigeria would commence on December 21, has been rejected by distribution companies.

Access Bank To Raise $250 million To Merge With Diamond Bank

Access Bank Plc, yesterday, said it will raise Tier 2 capital of $250 million (N90 billion) to strengthen its capital base ahead of its merger with Diamond Bank.

Ahead of the merger, Diamond Bank is expected to write off all its bad loans.

Kano PDP Members Defect Back To APC

Yesterday saw the Former Deputy Governor of Kano State, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, returning back to the APC.

Other returnees at the meeting include a former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority, Aminu Dabo; the immediate past National Treasurer, Bala Mohammed Gwagwarwa; Security Adviser to Kwankwaso, retired Gen. Danjuma Dambazau; Eng. Mu’azu Magaji, as well as Sen. Isa Zarewa who left in protest against the last primaries.

It is important to note that all of the returnees are staunch members of Kwankwasiyya – a movement led by Former Governor Kwankwaso

Prepare For Nationwide Strike January 2, Labour Warns

Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) has warned the Federal Government to send a draft bill on the new national minimum wage to the National Assembly for passage into law, before December 31, or be prepared for a nationwide strike in the new year.

Saraki And Dogora Are Weaklings, Says Akpabio

Former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, has berated the Senate President Dr Bukola Saraki and Speaker Mr Yakubu Dogara’s as weaklings, over their inability to deliver speeches during President Muhammadu Buhari’s budget presentation.

He urged them both to resign peacefully.
