Kwara: Court Resurrects APC, PDP Battles For Supremecy

The battle for supremecy between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Party (APC) has been resurrected as the Kwara State High Court recognized the executive committee of the Ishola Balogun-Fulani led faction of the APC.

Alhaji Balogun-Fulani had gone to court to challenge the dissolution of his faction by the National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

In his ruling, Justice T.S Umar had said “the purported dissolution of the executive committee of the APC led by Balogun-Fulani was illegal, null and void”.

In a reaction, the party which faulted the ruling, has reported Justice T.S Umar to the National Judicial Council, for alleged misdemeanor.


Reduce Jumbo Pay For NASS, Labour Tells FG

The organized labour, on Friday, reiterated calls for a reduction of the jumbo salaries being paid to political appointees and members of the National Assembly.Speaking in Abuja, the President of Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, advised the government to live up to its responsibility of managing the welfare and security of its citizens through programs and policies that would be of benefit to the common man.

Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Presidential Campaign Organization, PPCO, Saturday warned President Muhammadu Buhari to end further plans of imposing new taxes on Nigerians, noting that Nigerians are overburdened and pauperized by his incompetent administration.

The PPCO insists that Nigerians have suffered too much.

The Nigeria Labour Congress has declared January 8, 2019 as a day of nationwide protest, over the delay in passing the new minimum wage into law.

Kumuyi: We Would Not Hand The Church Over To Rascals

The General Superintendent of Deeper Life Bible Church, Pastor William Kumuyi, Saturday, maintained that the church will not be handed over to ‘rascals’ who are not portraying the image of Christ in their character.

He said: “We are not going to hand the church over to rascals, over to rebellious people that want to scatter everything that is good that the Lord is doing. If you have a neighbour or if you have a friend who is a rascal who just want to prove that he is not here to hear the Word of God or to obey the Word of God. He wants to be rascally in the house of God, talk to them.


6000 Constables Pass Out From Police Colleges, Says IGP

Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on Saturday said the police had completed training of 6, 000 newly recruited constables in its schools across the country.

Idris was represented at the ceremony in Minna by the Niger Commissioner of Police, Dibal Yakadi.


$2.8m laundered fund: Investigation ongoing, says EFCC

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says investigation is ongoing in a bank saga where two suspects were intercepted with 2.8 million dollars at Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu.

The money is believed to belong to a bank.


Buhari rallies West African leaders against terrorism, climate change

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday called for stronger solidarity by West African leaders to tackle the challenges of crime, terrorism, and climate change which he said has negative effects on agriculture.

Buhari said this while speaking at the 54th Ecowas ordinary session.


Kebbi Government Persecutes The Sun Reporter Over Report

The Kebbi State government, led by Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has put machinery in motion to persecute The Sun’s correspondent in the state, Olarenwaju Lawal, who was arrested last week Monday, hurriedly arraigned in court without a defence lawyer and clamped in prison custody.

The police, on the instructions of the Kebbi State government, arrested Lawal over an online publication the day before about the abduction of a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.


CDS, service chiefs visit Operation Lafiya Dole theatre command

The Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olanisakin, on Saturday led other service chiefs on operational visit to the Theatre Command of the Operation Lafiya Dole in Maiduguri.

He was received by the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, who had been on ground, visiting troops in the frontline to boost their morale.

Shortly after arrival, the CDS held a three-hour closed-door meeting with the service chiefs, where he was briefed by the Theatre Commander, Maj.-Gen. Benson Akinrodoye.


Amosun Promises Buhari Ogun Votes

Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has restated his resolve to work and deliver the votes of the people of the state for the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari in the upcoming 2019 presidential election.

The governor, while addressing party faithful drawn from across the 236 wards of the state at the APC party secretariat in Abeokuta on Friday, urged scores of party them to ensure that they vote massively for Buhari in the Presidential election scheduled for February 16, 2019.
