Onnoghen: Senate Cancels Emergency Resumption Heads To Supreme Court

The Senate has cancelled its plan to convene an emergency plenary on Tuesday over the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria(CJN), Walter Onnoghen.

The Clerk of the Senate, Mr Nelson Ayewoh, disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja.

Ayewoh, who did not give reasons for the cancellation, said the scheduled date of resumption of plenary fixed for Tuesday, Feb. 19 remained.


Anyaoku, Kukah To Speak At Symposium Tuesday

Bishop Matthew Kukah of the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto will be the guest speaker at a symposium on “Electoral Integrity, Legitimacy of Democratic Institutions and Good Governance” scheduled to hold 11am on Tuesday, at Sheraton Hotel, Lagos.

Our Rejection Of Atiku’s Endorsement By Ohanaeze, Apolitical ― Anambra Govt

The Anambra Government has said its rejection of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo’s endorsement of Alhaji Abubakar Atiku has nothing to do with politics or Mr Peter Obi.

The Anambra Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C-Don Adinuba made the clarification at a press briefing in Awka on Monday.

He said that the clarification was necessitated by the story making round the media and instigated by the group that the state rejected the endorsement of Atiku, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, because of his running mate, Obi.


Buhari Challenges African Leaders On Oil, Gas Infrastructure Development

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on African leaders to support whatever will help drive infrastructure development in the oil and gas sector in the region.

Buhari gave the advice at the opening ceremony of the second edition of the Nigerian International Petroleum Summit (NIPS) in Abuja on Monday.

The Theme of the summit was “ Shaping the Future through Efficiency and Innovation.’’


2019 Election: Bauchi Governor Warns Against Political Violence

Bauchi State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has warned that security agencies have been mandated to deal with anybody plotting an act of violence before, during and after the conduct of this year’s general elections, just as he asked women to stop using henna until after the elections.

According to a press statement signed by the Press Secretary to the Governor, Abubakar Al-Sadique and emailed to newsmen, the Governor made this statement while addressing supporters at campaign rallies held in Zaki and Gamawa local government areas.


OGTAN Decries Lack Of Human Capital Devt In Nigerian Oil, Gas Sector

The Oil and Gas Trainers Association of Nigeria (OGTAN), has decried lack of human capital development in Nigerian Oil and Gas sector.

Speaking to journalists in Lagos on Thursday, the President of OGTAN, Dr. Mayowa Afe, stated that in the absence of substantial investment in the development of human capital in any country, sustained economic growth and development would only be a mere wish.


Onnoghen: NBA Resolves To Boycott Court For 2 Days

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) on Monday rose from its emergency National Executive Committee needing with a resolve to embark on a two-day warning boycott of courts all over the county.

The umbrella body of legal practitioners in the country took the decision to protest the suspension of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen by President Muhammadu Buhari.


Removal Of Onnoghen As CJN Is Proper, Timely ― Forum Of Presidential Candidates.

The Forum of Presidential Candidates and Political Parties for Good Governance has said that the suspension of the former Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen, by President Muhammadu Buhari is proper and timely.

The Chairman of the Forum and Presidential Candidate of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), Alhaji Mohammed Shittu, said this at a news conference on Monday in Abuja.


Next Level Will Be Better Than Where We Are Now ― Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has said Nigeria’s economy will be better than it is now if the present administration’s Next Level agenda is supported.

Osinbajo made the promise to supporters of the All Progressives Congress (APC), when he visited the palace of the Sarkin Bwari, in Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) on Monday.

The vice president, who commended the council’s administration for its achievements, said that President Muhammadu Buhari relied on the people’s votes for a second tenure.


Buhari Seeks INEC-Traditional Rulers’ Collaboration On Sensitising Electorate

President Muhammadu Buhari has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) to collaborate with traditional rulers in educating the local electorate on voting modalities ahead of the 2019 general elections.

Buhari made the call while declaring open the 10th General Assembly of the National Council of Traditional Rulers of Nigeria (NCTRN) on Monday in Abuja. He was represented at the occasion by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

The theme of the Assembly is “Building a Synergy Towards Free, Fair, Credible and Violence-Free 2019 General Elections: The Role of Traditional Rulers.
