NSE Embraces Artificial Intelligence

As part of its desire to provide speedy real-time access to data and information, the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE, has adopted artificial intelligence in its operations as it launched a bot, named X-Bot.

In a statement from the Exchange, the AI-powered chatbot responds directly and automatically to enquiries through Facebook Messenger.

The NSE is the first African securities exchange to launch a customer interactive machine learning chatbot.



Enenche: I Prophesy Farmers, Herdsmen Will Cohabit Without Trouble

The Senior Pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, Dr. Paul Enenche, has quoted God as telling him that a time will come when farmers and herdsmen shall cohabit without any challenge.

He also said that Nigeria was approaching a point “where there shall be justice and equity, where there is no partiality.”

Enenche said this and more as he reeled out prophecies concerning New Year 2019.


Angels Of God Will Punish Sexual Perverts – Olukoya


The General Overseer, Mountain of Fire and Miracle Ministries International, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, has counselled youths to abstain from all forms of sexual perversion in 2019.

Olukoya said this while revealing 32 prophetic declarations for the year at the crossover service at MFM Prayer City, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, on New Year Day.

He said God had bombarded the year with sanitising angels to punish those found engaging in sexual perversion such as fornication, adultery, and homosexuality.

“The sanitising angels will begin to give deadly blows to those who engage in all forms of sexual perversion, be it adultery, fornication or whatever forms of it.

“If you know you are a youth and have been engaging in such, you must stay away now because the angels will give you a dead blow and there would be no mercy,” he said.


Islamic Movement of Nigeria Attend Church Service

Members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria on Tuesday attended the  2019 New Year Church Service in Zaria, Kaduna State, to strengthen inter-religious harmony and enhance national cohesion.

The El-Zakzaky group attended the service at St. Mary’s Parish Church, Samaru, Zaria, Kaduna State.

The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Michael Ibrahim-Bazai, expressed his appreciation at seeing members of the IMN in the church. He described the visit it as the first of its kind.

He said, “We are happy to receive our brothers and sisters from Islamic faith here in our Church to celebrate with us today on 1st January 2019.

“It is true that sometimes we are scared of each other, this is because some of us are ignorant of the religion but we are all one.”

The leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, El-Zakzaky, is currently in detention by security forces and is undergoing trial in court.


One killed as suspected rival cult groups clash in Badagry

The new year celebrations in the badagry area of Lagos state, were abruptly halted due to a bloody clash between suspected rival cult groups which left one person dead.

Sources said that the deceased, simply identified as Shefiu, who allegedly belonged to the Eiye confraternity, was shot dead around Senior Boys Joint along Soglo way early on new year day.

According to the source, members of the groups ran away from the scene immediately after the shooting, leaving behind the lifeless body of the victim.

This development was confirmed by the Nigeria Police, as the Divisional Police Officer in Badagry, Mr Samson Akhiromen, said that one suspect had been arrested over the killing.


I Dropped Out of OAU, Ogun APC Gov Candidate Admits

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Dapo Abiodun, has said the contention over his academic credentials is an attempt at mudslinging, adding that he never claimed to have graduated from the Obafemi Awolowo University (formerly University of Ife).

A suit filed earlier this month at a High Court in Abuja, had sought Abiodun’s disqualification from the governorship race for allegedly giving “false information” in the academic qualification he submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission

Abiodun also said the APC chieftain, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, was not responsible for his victory at the party’s primary in Ogun State as reported in some quarters.


30 die in Ibadan New Year Accident

The mood of residents anticipating the new year was indeed gloomy, as 30 lives were reportedly lost in a road accident on the eve of the new year.

This incident which occured at night — near Bola Ige International market along new Ife-Ibadan expressway, Gbagi, Ibadan, Oyo state capital — was caused by an oncoming trailer from Iwo road axis which rammed into the commercial buses by the entrance of the market.

Sadly, only two people survived the accident while other passengers were said to have died immediately.


Herdsmen Burn Gov. Ortom’s Rice Farm

Governor Samuel Ortom’s rice farm has been burnt allegedly by suspected Fulani herdsmen in Gbajimba, Guma Local Government Area of the state.

Manager of the farm, Kena Iordzua, disclosed that the herdsmen invaded the facility with a large number of cattle during the day and set it on fire at three different points.

He explained that the fire in no time engulfed the entire farm assisted by the harmattan wind, adding that the inferno could not be put out despite concerted efforts by those who were working on the farm.


Group seeks police recruitment probe

A group, Rural Peoples Assembly (RPA) has called for an investigation into alleged fraudulent admission in the Nigeria Police Academy.

The group in a petition titled “Petition Requesting Investigation into a Case of Impersonation And Conversion of Bayelsa State Admission Quota to Non- Indigenes for Admission into The Nigeria Police Academy” signed by its counsel, Aniso Abraham, and addressed to the Bayelsa State Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, said there were grounds to suspect that some persons admitted into the police academy impersonated Bayelsans so as to fill the state quota.

RPA which cited four of such persons “who sat for examinations under the state’s quota and are actually not from Bayelsa State” said this was not the first time such cases of alleged fraud was happening and listed some names as evidence that Bayelsa State was being short-changed in police admission exercise.


Enugu to host Buhari’s presidential zonal rally

The All Progressives Congress (APC), 2019 presidential zonal rally in the South East region has been slated to hold in Enugu.

This was disclosed by the National Vice-Chairman of the party in the zone, Emma Eneukwu, during the zonal stakeholders’ meeting of the party held at the country home of the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, in Uburu, Ohaozara council of Ebonyi State.

Eneukwu charged the leaders of the party at zonal, state, local government, and ward levels to mobilise their members in readiness for the day.

He said that the leadership of the party in the geopolitical zone was waiting for approval from the national leadership before it could go ahead with its arrangements.
