#NigeriaDecides2019: ballot boxes destroyed, votes burnt in Lagos polling units

Various reports reaching us at iDONSABI.com informs that instances of violence has been recorded at various polling units in Lagos State as Nigeria decides in 2019.

Reports coming from one of the polling units in Lagos say armed thugs stormed the venue of the elections and scattered all the election materials, destroying them.

The incident took pace at Amukoko, Ajeromi Ofelodun Local Government area of Lagos State.

According to Emmanuella Okoye who gave an eye witness account, voting was going on when thugs armed with metal objects and sticks stormed the election venue in motorcycles and tricycles forcing everyone to take to their heels while they destroyed eection materials.

In her words:

These was the Polling Unit before hoodlums came and Violently destroyed the Electoral Process. (See the video in my last post). Happening in Amukoko! Ajeronmi Ifelodun Local Government. Lagos State. Citizens(Electorates) ran for their dear lives. I ran too. Almost all the Polling Units in that area were affected. I am just angry that Elections can’t be peaceful in this Country. Why the disruption? People shoud be allowed to exercise their franchise without threats. This is totally condemnable. I hate that this is happening. It’s a shame.

In another instance of violence recorded at a polling unit in Okoto, Lagos State, elections materials and votes were completely burnt to ashes. Shots were fired also. Two people were reported dead.
