Following the passage, the Appropriation bill for 2019 will be transferred to Pres. Muhammadu Buhari for his final approval

– Sen. Pres. Saraki disclosed that he hoped the executive would implement the budget for the benefit of the country as whole

After the Nigerian Senate were unable to pass the 2019 Budget last week due to the absence of the chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, a new report has however, confirmed that the Nigerian Senate has today passed the 2019 Appropriations bill.

The report made it known that the 2019 Appropriation bill is N86 billion higher than the proposal of N8.83 trillion presented by President Muhammadu Buhari to the National Assembly for the 2019 fiscal year.

The bill was passed by the lawmaker during the plenary on Tuesday after the report of the Senate Committee on Appropriations on the 2019 Appropriation Bill presented by Senator Danjuma Goje was considered.

Following the passage of the 2019 appropriation bill, the Senate will now transmit it to President Muhammadu Buhari for his assent before it becomes an approved budget for 2019.

The Senate Pres. Bukola Saraki during the plenary had said he hoped the executive would implement the budget for the benefit of the country as a whole.

He said, “I hope that with this Budget passed, the Executive will also ensure the full implementation of the Budget for the benefit of Nigerians as a whole.”

Pres. Muhammdu Buhari is out of the country at the moment on a private visit in the United Kingdom and he is scheduled to return to the country come Sunday May 5th.

A report made it known that the passage of the bill comes barely five months after it was laid before a joint session of the national assembly.
