Nigerian Song Bird Simi Releases New Single – Ayo

Newly wed singer and wife to Adekunle Gold, Simi has released a new single and her first for 2019, titled ‘Ayo’. The singer with the real name, Similola Bolatito Ogunleye, announced its official release via her verified Instagram and Twitter accounts @symplysimi.

‘Ayo’ is following the release of a collaboration between her and her hubby, Adekunle Gold – one they sang soon after their wedding titled Promise.

She announced the release of the song via a 30s audio she posted with the caption:

“Every line is a prophecy. for you. for me. This song is a gift. I pray that the words become your truth”.

The song is produced by legendary producer, Legendury Beatz, live guitars by Fiokee and live percussions by Alabama Georgia (who was a part of Falz’s Moral Instruction project).

The word ‘Ayo’ is a Yoruba term for Joy. The song is termed Ayo for plausible reasons as the endearing singer has enjoyed a lot of success in recent years.

There is the theory that it could be related to her marriage as reflected by the lyrics of the song. A part of the song sings:

“Ore ore ore ore wa gba leyin mi oh……Make this love dey sweet me for body……Ireti wo lemi oh (ireti wo lemi oh)……Ayo ayo ayo ayo (ayo wa gba lemi oh)”

The duo are currently enjoying their honeymoon in Capetown, South Africa.

It was just few weeks ago from the city of Capetown that the new anthemic love for so many people was birthed – the song Promise. The lyrics of the song had the couple making vows to themselves in the most angelic manner possible.

Gold in a section of the song sang: “If I lose it all will you be there for me?….If I no get money o, will you still be loving me?”, “So promise me you’ll grow old with me”

and Simi replied with “Promise me you’ll grow old with me”, “….and ride with me till the sun goes down yea yea”

The marriage of Adekunle Gold and Simi has brought shivers down the spine of many intending couples as there were reactions aplenty when the news of the two’s wedding went viral.
