NJC gives Justice Walter Onnoghen and Mohammed Tanko 7 Days Ultimatum to Respond to Petitions
– The Nigerian Judicial Council NJC has given Justice Walter Onnoghen and Justice Mohammed Tanko Seven days ultimatum to respond to the various petitions levelled against them
The latest report has made it known that the Nigerian Judicial Council NJC met in an emergency meeting Today in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to the outcome of the meeting, the NJC has issued seven days ultimatum to the suspended Justice Walter Onnoghen and Justice Mohammed Tanko to respond to the various petitions charged against them.
The Federal Government last week Friday made moves that saw to the suspension of the Chief Judge of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen.
However, the Federal Government led by Pres. Muhammadu Buhari disclosed that it suspended Justice Walter Onnoghen based on order from the Code of Conduct Tribunal CCT.
Justice Walter Onnoghen has been charged on nondisclosure of asset in accordance with the law.
Following the suspension of Walter Onnoghen, the Federal Government went on to swear in Justice Mohammed Tanko as the acting Chief Judge of Nigeria.

The NJC also referred to the petition written against the Code of Conduct Tribunal chairman, Umar Danladi by the Court of Appeal.
Earlier on, the Nigerian Bar Association NBA had embarked on a two-day protest by shunning courtrooms in support of Justice Walter Onnoghen.
However, various reports made it known that some Legal practitioners were seen going about their normal duties today.
In another news, the Code of Conduct Tribunal has suspended the trial of Justice Walter Onnoghen till further notice.
The CCT stated that it was suspending the trial based on an order from the Court of Appeal.
The suspension of Justice Walter Onnoghen has been the biggest trending news in Nigeria for the past few days.
