Nnamdi Kanu’s Recent Appearance Has Igbo Leaders Worried

Nnamdi Kanu was finally sighted after a year of speculations and finger-pointing from various quarters of the country.The long-time puzzle and controversy on the whereabouts of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu is finally over. The IPOB leader and mascot was reportedly sighted at a Jewish synagogue in Jerusalem on Friday.

In addition to this, his identity was confirmed by both the leadership of IPOB and his family members. However, Nnamdi Kanu’s appearance has generated lots of unease amidst various quarters in the country. For instance, Nnamdi Kanu’s appearance has great concerns from the apex Igbo group Ohaneze. The group has called on the members of IPOB and pro-biafran agitators to shun any form of violence and confrontations with the military.

This is to avoid any possible clash with the military, which is planning a second python dance in the south east. Since 2009, the biafran leader has become the figurehead for the struggle for the sovereignty of Biafra.

Kanu and his parents had not been seen since his home was invaded by soldiers on September 21, 2017. Speaking on the latest news, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, the spokesperson for the Kanu family, confirmed that his brother and the leader of the IPOB group actually prayed in Israel on Friday.

He said despite the fact that their parents are yet to be seen, the family members are happy to see that their son is alive. He refused to add more comments and said the family would issue an official statement later.

Reacting to this latest development, the National Publicity Secretary of Ohanaeze, Uche Achi-Okpaga, gave gratitude to God and admonished the members of IPOB to avoid any activity that will confrontations with soldiers. On this issue, the President General of Afarachukwu, Ikechukwu Nwabueze also expressed gratitude to God on the recent sighting of Nnamdi Kanu the Biafran leader in Israel.

He urged the federal government to drop all charges against him as he did not commit any offense to his fatherland. Meanwhile, the people of Afarachukwu were in a joyous mood over the sighting of their son in Israel. They also pleaded with Abia state government to hasten actions towards the return of their monarch, Nnamdi Kanu’s father.
