Norwich City Hand First League Defeat In Eight Months To Manchester City

Norwich City are still in the business of springing up surprises and Manchester City are their latest victims. The former Championship side served the two-time reigning Champions their first league defeat in eight months and quite frankly they did it in stellar fashion.

Norwich had taken the lead just inside of 19 minutes and a late rally and goal from Rodrigo couldn’t save the Citizens from a collateral damage.

Manchester City were sucked up by the Canaries so much so that Pep had to stand up from his perspex bunker to gear up his side.

Both teams were Champions last term, one in the Championship and the other in England’s top-flight and they didn’t  fail to show what made them deserving of those titles.

Norwich came into the game without eight member of their first team setup but still managed to thump Guardiola’s side.

Kenny Mclean got the first goal of the encounter after some nice footwork from Alex Tettey who burst past Zinchenko and cannoned a cross into the box from which the goal resulted.

The home crowd turned up their volumes as they got another. Pukki latched on to a pass from Marco Stipiermann and opted to pass back to Todd Cantwell having being covered by John Stones. Cantwell made no mistake about it and sent the crowd rioting with the home side’s second of the  night.

Aguero made the Canaries wary of a comeback when he found the net only for Pukki to send his side 3-1 up just five minutes after the interval.

That was it. Pep Guardiola had seen enough. The Spanish gaffer then sent in Gabriel Jesus and Kevin de Bruyne. The Belgian midfielder immediately upped the tempo, took over set piece responsibilities but all came to naught.

With time ticking away, City got their second through Rodrigo and failed to level matters before the game’s end

Norwich City 3-2 Manchester City it ended.
