NYSC Member Allegedly Turns Down Offer To Be Freed By Boko Haram

National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Abraham Amuta allegedly turned down an offer by the Boko Haram insurgents to be freed and go home.

According to the reports by Daily Trust, Amuta told those who went to the Sambisa forest to facilitate his release not to worry themselves. He allegedly told them to go back home, revealed that he has renounced his Christian faith and prefers to be with his captors.

Abraham Amuta was abducted during his one-year mandatory NYSC service in Maiduguri, Borno State on April 10, 2019.

The young man was abducted along Pastor Moses Oyeleke of Living Faith Church along Gwoza road from Maiduguri. They were on their way to Chibok to deliver humanitarian assistance. However, in November 2019, Pastor Oyeleke was released.

Daily Trust in their reports also stated that the negotiation for the release of Amuta and other captives collapsed following the corp member’s decision to remain with his captors.
