Ogun State Police Apprehends Housewife For Beating Her Husband’s Nephew To Death

Operatives of the Ogun State Police command have apprehended a 47-year old housewife identified as Joy Egeonu, for allegedly beating the 11-year nephew of her husband to death on the allegation that her husband’s nephew stole her money worth N6,500.

The suspect, Joy Egeonu, 47, was arrested following a report by the deceased’s mother identified as Ijeoma Egeonu who reported the tragic incident at Agbado Divisional headquarters that her son who was living with her elder brother and his wife at Opeilu in Agbado was beaten to death by Joy Egeonu on February 3rd, on a Sunday, over an allegation that the boy identified as Chibuike Egeonu stole the sum of N6,500 which belonged to Joy.

Ijeoma Egeonu, the mother of the deceased, stressed that the suspect, Joy Egeonu, later took the dead body of the boy to Ifo where she quickly buried him in order to avoid any form of a trace.

On account of hearing this incident, the Ogun state police immediately went into action and arrested Joy who informed the Ogun state police that the boy died while she was taking him to the hospital and that it was later discovered that the missing money worth N6,500 was taken by her husband and not the deceased as earlier thought by Joy Egeonu.

However, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun state identified as Ahmed Iliyasu has ordered the immediate transfer of the suspect, Joy Egeonu, to the homicide section of the Ogun State Criminal investigation and intelligence Department for further investigation to be carried out in order to ascertain the truth about the incident.

The Commissioner of Police, Ahmed IIiyasu also ordered the arrest of the suspect’s husband who allegedly helped his wife in burying the boy in order to cover the criminal act of his wife.
