Okorocha to Uzodinma: We’ll Work Together to Ensure That Your Government Succeeds

Immediate former Imo governor, Rochas Okorocha has felicitated with the governor-elect, Hope Uzodinma over the Supreme Court ruling that declared him the winner of the 2019 governorship election in the State.

The Supreme Court had on Tuesday nullified the election of Emeka Ihedioha of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the governor of the state and declared Uzodinma winner of the governorship election held on March 9.

The apex court also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return from Ihedioha and issue Uzodinma a certificate of return as governor of the state.

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, who read the lead judgement, said the votes due to Uzodinma and All Progressives Congress (APC) from 318 polling units were wrongly excluded and should be added.

Okorocha and Uzodinma have not been on good terms after he alleged that the governor wasn’t the winner of the primary election of APC in the state.

Okorocha, who currently represents Imo West Senatorial zone at the National Assembly, however, said he would support Uzodinma’s government to succeed in Imo.

Okorocha through a statement issued by his media aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, said the judgment represented the choice of Imo people.

“I want to congratulate Hope Uzodinma for his victory at the Supreme Court, and we will all work together to ensure that his government succeeds.

“This is an indication of a new hope in Imo, everybody must remain calm and watch Uzodinma unfold what he has for Imo,” Okorocha said.
