Oshoala Shares Excitement After Equalling CAF Award Record

Barcelona and Nigerian star, Asisat Oshoala has shared her excitement at equalling record set by compatriot, Perpetua Nkwocha.

The forward notched the Africa Women Player of the Year award for the fourth time.

She was delighted to be crowned the best women player on the continent at the CAF Awards Gala on Tuesday night.

The winger who represents Spanish giants, Barcelona became only the second woman to bag the award for the fourth time after thumping Cameroon’s Ajara Nchout and South Africa’s Thembi Kgatlana to the award.

Aside equalling the record previously set by Perpetua Nkwocha after winning the awards in the years 2014, 2016 and 2017, Oshoala also became the second African player to lift the gong a record four times between the years 2010 and 2019 after former Manchester City and Cote d’ivoire midfielder, Yaya Toure.

Her latest award is hugely tied to her success with club side Barcelona, where she bagged 15 goals in 19 games last term, including a goal in the Champions League final.
