Osun Election : Atiku hails the role of the the judiciary in declaring Adeleke as the governor

Former Vice president of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar commends the efforts and resilience of the judiciary in declaring Senator Adeleke as the true winner of the Osun State Governorship Election.

– He further encouraged them to remain steadfast, and not waver in their commitment in ensuring that the democracy in Nigeria is put on a solid foundation.

 

Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the just concluded Presidential elections, has applauded the role that the judiciary played in the election, and labels them as the true defender of Nigeria’s democracy.

He made the known while responding to the verdict of the election tribunal passed by declaring Senator Ademola Adeleke as the true winner of the 22 September, 2018 governorship election in Osun state.

According to the statement released by Paul Ibe, the Media Adviser of the former vice president, he congratulated Senator Adeleke, the Peoples Democratic Party, and men and women of goodwill in Osun State, who did not waver in their commitment to retrieve the stolen mandate.

“Weeping may endure for a night, but joy has come for the people of Osun”.

He also commended the courage of the judiciary and its resilience even in the face of strenuous efforts by the APC-led government to undermine and intimidate it.
In his words, “the decision of the judiciary on the Osun governorship election is phenomenal in view of the culture of inconclusive elections by INEC in this season.

” The judgment has rekindled hope and confidence that those whose mandate had been tampered with or denied can look forward to justice being done to them”.
He finally urged the judiciary to remain steadfast as the eyes of all Nigerians and indeed the whole world are on them to help ensure that democracy in Nigeria is put on a solid foundation.
