PDP slams Buhari Over ‘Nigerians Are Free To Go’ Comment

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned President Muhammed Buhari’s statement. The president in a recent interview said Nigerians who feel they have another country are free to go. This comment so sparked mixed reactions amidst various quarters in the country.

Thle PDP has summarized the president’s statement as being insensitive to the plight of the citizens. The Opposition party described the statement as defeatist, unpresidential, unpatriotic, and characteristic of his failed regime.

Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, in an interview in Abuja, said that the president’s statements show how completely insensitive he is to the suffering of his citizens. He also described the President’s comment as “in fatherly” and insensitive to millions of Nigerians suffering from the harsh economic conditions and poverty that has riddled them.

Ologbondiyan said these were the problems that were forcing Nigerians to embark on precarious journeys across the harsh Saharan desert to find greener pastures.
He said, “Such comment is a grave insult to the thousands of lives lost to marauders in various parts of the country, while the president and the All Progressive Congress remained aloof of these atrocities and refused to bring the perpetrators to books.”

The President’s comment is an insult to millions of Nigerians whose life’s and businesses were wrecked by the anti-people policies of the ruling government.

” Since the President is now aware that Nigerians across all walks of life are hurting over the failures of his administration, the least he, as an elected leader should have done, is to step up and proffer solutions to their grievances. Instead of doing that, he decided to question their patriotism by asking them to leave their fatherland”.

This latest remark by the President brings to mind his disdainful comment against the youths whom he described as lazy and lovers of hand-outs.
