PDP Submits Kwankwaso’s Son-in-law’s Name As Kano Guber Candidate

Engr. Abba Yusuf, the son-in-law of the former governor of Kano State, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, has been selected as the gubernatorial candidate by the top echelons of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

His name was among the list of candidates submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Abuja last week Thursday.

This is barely 3 weeks after the former governor endorsed his son-in-law in a maverick move that alienated himself from his politically ally Prof. Hafizu Abubakar and his proposed governorship candidate Mallam Salihu Sagir Takai.

According to a reliable source who pleaded anonymity, Yusuf’s name was submitted to the electoral body on Thursday. Although Mallam Salihu Sagir Takai who was believed to be the favorite choice emerged as the governorship candidate from a faction led by Senator El-Jubril.

This information was kept under wraps to prevent a possible fall-out as Kwankwaso has allegedly threatened to dump PDP if the party’s top shots tampered with the lost of candidates he submitted from the primaries conducted across the state.

However, the alleged threat was debunked by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan. He said he was not aware of such occurrence in the party.

On this note, there’s set to be an upheaval in the inner workings of the party on the submission of Kankwaso’s son-in-law as the governorship candidate for Kano State.

The two major factions contending for this post will be at loggerheads once INEC verifies the list of candidates submitted on Thursday.
