Pele Picks Ronaldo Over Messi

Footballing legend and former Brazil International, Pele thinks Cristiano Ronaldo is better at the moment than his fierce rival, Lionel Messi. However, he maintains that he still remains the best player of all time.

The legendary Brazilian weighed in on the debate about who the better player. Pele though still believes none of the legends are as great as he was in his won prime.

The duo of Messi and Ronaldo continue to hit individual benchmarks and set new records even as they edge even closer to the end of their successful careers. While the latter has now switched to the Allianz stadium, to play for Italian giants, Juventus, the former still remains Barcelona’s talismanic forward and skipper.

Eleven of the last twelve Ballon D’Ors have been shared between both players with Real Madrid’s Luka Modric the only other player to have picked up the award in that period. Messi however has the advantage over his counterpart as regards the Balon D’Or award with the Argentine having won six of those individual titles.

He also picked in December his sixth Golden ball for being the highest goalscorer in leagues across Europe. Since then, he’s helped Barcelona to the summit of the Laliga standings ahead of their fierce local rivals, Real Madrid.

Ronaldo hasn’t been silent. In fact, his side’s stance at the summit of the League standings was helped by the 25 goals he’s scored in the League this term. He has been terrific in recent times, notching 16 goals in only 12 games to steer the Biaconeris to what might be a ninth consecutive Scuddetto title.

Football enthusiasts and pundits remain torn over who the better player is and who the best of all time is. Pele voices his opinion on the debate, picking Ronaldo has the better of the two.

“Right now I think Cristiano Ronaldo is the most consistent player out there, but you can’t forget about Messi,” Pele told YouTube channel Pilhado .
