Speaking on the incident, Edo Commissioner of Police, Danmallam Muhammed denied that such incident took place in the ruling party national neighbourhood.

According to eyewitnesses, the suspected hoodlums gathered around Oshiomhole’s residence, chanting offensive slogans in an apparent move for him to come out of the house.

They were however dispersed by security operatives and the road was closed to traffic some times before it was re-opened. There was security beefed up at Oshiomhole’s house, with about four police patrol vans brought in addition to the one that was always stationed in front of the house.

Reacting to the incident, the Chief Press Secretary to Oshiomhole, Simon Ebegbulem blamed a top government official who he insisted was desperate to get a second term.
