– Pres. Muhammadu Buhari has reacted to the re-election of Mr. Aliyu Wabba as the Chairman of the NLC

Nigerian Labour Congress NLC, a body of Nigerian labours had their election yesterday 6th of February.

The report from the meeting disclosed that current NLC chairman, Mr. Aliyu Wabba was re-elected unopposed by members of the labour force.

Aliyu Wabba will now continue as chairman of NLC for another four years between 2019 to 2023.

However, Pres. Muhammadu Buhari in a recent statement has reacted to the re-election of the Nigerian Labour Congress NLC chairman.

Pres. Buhari in his statement applauded Mr. Aliyu Wabba and other members of the National Executive Committee over the election.

The Pres. in a statement which was made public by his Special Assistant on media and publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu made it known that the APC led FG is hoping to work with Mr. Aliyu Wabba, NLC Central Working Committee CWC, and the National Executive council.

Garba Shehu made it known that the working relationship will help the Congress and the Government to fulfill all promises.

Apart from Mr Aliyu that was re-elected unopposed, three other people were elected unopposed as Deputy Presidents and they are Amaechi Asugwuni, Muhammad Nadir Idris, and Najim Usman Yasin, while Ibrahim Khaleel, was elected National Treasurer.

Four persons were also elected Vice-Presidents and they are Abdrafiu Adeniji, Peters Adeyemi, Lawrence Amaechi and Oyelakan Lateef who was returned unopposed.

Further report made it known that other officials were also elected and they include Marven Adamu as the National Financial Secretary and Adewale Adeyanju as the National Trustee, among others.

The NLC is currently pushing for a new minimum wage of N30,000.
