Presidency releases Buhari’s voice message to debunk media report on speech impairment

Following the media reports that President Muhammadu Buhari is suffering from speech impairment, the Presidency has released Buhari’s voice message to Nigerians to debunk the reports.

Recently, the social media released reports claiming that the President was suffering from memory loss and speech impairment. However, the President was heard felicitating with Nigerians on the occassion of Eid-el Fitr in a recording aired on Sunday by some radio stations, including the BBC.

While thanking them for their consistent prayers for his well-being, he also urged all citizens to always avoid hate speech and divisive tendencies capable of causing disaffection among them, irrespective of their socio-political affiliations.

The President also prayed for good harvest as farmers embarked on agricultural activities occasion by the commencement of rainfalls across the country. The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity Malam Garba Shehu, had issued a similar message in a statement on Saturday.

Furthermore, a presidential source had earlier confirmed on Saturday that “the President is getting better “will return to Nigeria very soon”. It can be recalled that Buhari left Abuja for London on May 7, to see his doctors for follow-up medical checks.
