Presidency says it is dangerous to play politics with religion rules out Islamization of Nigeria

– He noted that it is dangerous to play politics with religion

There have been various rumours making round which alleged that the All Progressive Congress APC led Federal Government have plans to Islamize Nigeria.

Pres. Muhammadu Buhari in a recent statement today has responded to the allegations and condemned the claims

According to a statement released by the President’s spokesperson, Femi Adeshina, he disclosed that some unscrupulous persons are again falsely and wickedly claiming that Pres. Buhari has an agenda to Islamize Nigeria.

He disclosed that they made the same claim back in 2015.

Femi Adeshina said the claim was to stoke up religions for political gains.

According to the statement released by Femi Adeshina, Pres. Buhari remains committed to freedom of religion and worship for all Nigerians.

The Pres. however made it known that it is dangerous to play politics with religion.

Femi Adeshina in his statement said: “The objective is clearly to stoke up religious division for political gains. Some of these same persons made these devious and fabricated claims ahead of the 2015 election. They failed woefully.

“The President strongly affirms the oath he took before the Nigerian people to faithfully defend the Constitution of Nigeria. That Constitution guarantees freedom of worship for every Nigerian. It is this guarantee that enables all Nigerians to practise their faiths or religion without hindrance.

“President Buhari further affirms his commitment to freedom of religion and worship for all Nigerians, and that under no circumstance will any religion or faith be imposed on any Nigerian.

“It is dangerous, deceptive and ungodly to play politics with religion.”

In another report, Pres. Buhari in his broadcast today urged Nigerians to come out and vote in the rescheduled election expected to take place tomorrow.
