President Buhari Instructs Security Agencies to Combat Bandit Killings in Zamfara

Following protest by different groups on the continued attacks on lives and properties of citizens by armed bandits in Zamfara State, President Muhammadu Buhari has instructed security agencies to double up on their efforts on the bandits in Zamfara.

President Muhammadu Buhari told the various security agencies in Nigeria to immediately provide more troops to Zamfara following the incessant killings of citizens by bandits.

Bashir Ahmad, Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media and Communication made this via his Twitter handle on Saturday evening.

It should be recalled that also Saturday, President Muhammadi Buhari also through Bashir Ahmad had revealed that the incessant killings by bandits made him unhappy and it was a source of concern for him.

President Muhammadu Buhari said, “How can I be happy and indifferent to the senseless killings of my fellow citizens by bandits? I am human and I understand the pains of the victims and their families who have been traumatized and impoverished by constant ransom demands by bandits.”

President Muhammadu Buhari’s reactions comes after different protest held on Saturday in Abuja and London; where the protesters sought the intervention of the president in ensuring safety of lives in Zamfara.

Bashir later on Saturday evening informed Nigerians that President Muhammadu Buhari has “ordered a rapid and robust deployment of troops to all the areas currently under attack from bandits in Zamfara State.”

Bashir also told Nigerians that the Federal Government of Nigeria is working tirelessly in tackling the security situation in Zamfara State “ferociously until the bandits are crushed and utterly defeated.”
