The spokesman for the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Fabian Benjamin, confirmed the arrest in statement forwarded to Channels Television on Friday.
It was reported Jisus was arrested over an allegation of examination malpractice by the monitoring team of the JAMB Registrar on Thursday at an institution in Jabi area of Abuja, the nation’s capital.
“His (the suspect) identity was shrouded in dubious tales. He claimed during interrogation that he was one of the professors selected by the Board to oversee the conduct of the 2019 UTME,” the statement read.
According to Benjamin, when Jisus was apprehended he claimed to be a professor hat he was awarded a professor at Christian University, Isolo, Lagos and another two professorial awards from “Becket” University England and Freedom University.
When further interrogated, Jisus also claimed to work for “Anchor Polytechnic, Kubwa, Abuja”, an institution JAMB said does not exist.
Jisus so claimed that he was the president of the United Nigeria Chaplin Institute of Peace Academy.
After further investigations,It was discovered that Jisus had a daughter who was taking the 2019 UTME in the same centre where he was caught.
JAMB insisted that its operational guideline does not allow unauthorised persons into the examination hall.
JAMB denounced appointing the aelf claimed professor as one of those it selected to monitor the conduct of the examination.
